Coming of Age

Who are we? Who are we, other than a generation obsessed with flashback trends, overpriced lattes, and relationships mostly built upon a weeks worth of text messaging. Who are we striving to become? And, what are we to do about the steaming heap of deep environmental stuff (also known as global warming, diminishing natural resourses, and overall economic Armageddon)...that we find ourselves facing? What do we do in a city that is both creating and destroying our minds with mass forms of media, advertisements, and ideas that strive to convince us that their product is what we want and ultimately need. Who do we listen to? Who do we ask? And who do we have to guide us? My answer to that is… ourselves.

The R.Y.G. (RECYouth Guide) is more than a Web site, a magazine, or mere leisure reading.

It is a movement created by teenagers, for other teenagers to see through the ideological smokescreen that has been placed before us. We are the generation in which the current common status quo is anything that is different. We are the ones who will take on and analyze problems and situations that have been developing for decades, and it is up to us conquer the odds that lay before us.

The R.Y.G. is the first of its kind.

We will give you the truth, both the raw and the sugar coated. We will deliver news and events taking place in the world around you. We will supply you with a means of sharing your ideas, opinions and views concerning everything and anything that you want to know. We will update you on the latest trends and the hottest spots. We will supply you with reviews, editorials, and upcoming events in and around your city. We will display your opinions, art, and interests for the world to see. This project is one created by young adults and incorporates your ideas, wants, and needs into a guide for New York City’s developing future generation. We are your sanction…we are your medium…we are The R.Y.G.

Enjoy....and get the hell off the couch.
